I am currently on a two-week vacation since Monday.
Initially, I had planned to take some time off after the first quarter, but I had numerous tasks to handle since we were still developing our new product launch. Fortunately, everything has been sorted out, and I can finally take a well-deserved break.
š§āāļøDifferent kinds of vacation.
In the past, when I was single, I enjoyed traveling to various destinations during my leisure time. Even when I was in a long-distance relationship with my current spouse, we would meet up at a mutually convenient location, or I would travel to Michigan to visit her.
To justify my prolonged absence, I would diligently work for several months without taking any breaks. Additionally, I enrolled in Priority Pass to gain access to airport lounges, as I frequently traveled.
Oh, how I miss the good old days. They seem so distant now.
This year, I had a lot on my plate, including organizing Mother's Day celebrations, planning my daughters' birthdays, and preparing for a family trip. I would be truly grateful if there's any chance to catch some extra sleep or nap during the day.
š½Something always breaks during my break.
I was hoping to have some time to myself this weekend, but unfortunately, both toilets upstairs stopped working. It turns out that everything inside the toilet tanks was ancient and just couldn't handle it anymore.
So I spent some time watching YouTube videos on replacing the toilet parts. It seemed relatively easy, and the replacement parts were accessible at the local hardware store. So I went, grabbed the needed parts, returned home, and started unscrewing bolts on the toilet tank.
Of course, one of the nuts was stuck on the bolt and wouldnāt move; it kept spinning with the bolt. I tried to grab the bolt with a plier and twist the nut, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldnāt break it loose ādonāt even mention WD-40 or heat induction because Iāve already tried. I ended up asking for help from a handyman, and when he came, he looked and used the electric saw to cut the bolt. Maybe Iāll ask for that for Fatherās Day gift.
Itās good that I was on vacation, and Iām happy I could get this fixed, but DAMN.
šøThings I enjoy nowadays
To unwind after putting in the effort, I decided to indulge in some entertainment. I watched a few comedy clips on YouTube and even checked out Chris Rock's latest Netflix special, Selective Outrage.
I also picked up my guitar again, which I hadn't played much this year due to focusing on improving my programming skills. I warmed up my fingers with minor pentatonic scales and played some of my favorite songs.
I should make more time for this.
Finally, I relaxed in a bath while listening to an audiobook - currently, I'm enjoying "Tyranny of Merit" by Michael J. Sandel. Reflecting on my vacation activities, I realize they've changed significantly from my younger days, but I don't mind.
Nowadays, I value getting some much-needed rest.
š§š»Reina turned one!
My little one turned one on Thursday, and we threw a party to celebrate. It's incredible how quickly time seems to fly by. I'm overjoyed to witness my baby girl grow up so fast!
We were naive but courageous, believing we could handle raising two children. #parentingstruggles
š„±Vacation continues.
I have another week of vacation, and weāre taking a family trip to upper Michigan next week. If I write a post next week, Iāll share how I survived.
How was your week?
